Woos,
So mom tells me its "that time of year"- Im "blowing" my coat. I dont know whos idea this is but its certainly not mine. If it were up to me Id keep all my fluffy hairs to myself! Due to this strange phenomenon mom has been bringing out mr vacuum every day, which isnt a big deal, I dont mind him. The bad part is... the BRUSHES. Mom sits down and manipulates me for hours at a time! She spent a total of 4 hours over this weekend taking all my fluffy hairs from me. She said they are already "dead" and that its better for me to seperate them out from the good hairs, but let me tell you, I HATE it!
She uses 3 different torture devices. First the "under coat rake", then the "slicker", then the "furminator". Then if that wasnt bad enough she has to bathe me too! This weekend she bought some fancy new conditioner that is supposed to help get the dead hairs out. Baths arent that bad, though I wont say I find them particularly enjoyable, but this conditioner makes them twice as long! AFTER I suffer through a full bath, then mom rubs this stuff all over me for 5 mins, then has to rinse it all off. SHEESH! When will this torture end? I hardly ever need to be brushed when Im not "blowing" my coat. I cant wait until my body decides enough is enough..
In other news.. Brother and mom are taking an agility class. He loves it, but it sounds like too much work to me. Mom agrees, she tells me I would hate it and be a horrible agility dog. But says shes looking into where we can take the therapy test so we can start that! She is going to start doing agility with sister soon too.

Oh Royal, you get tortured with all three of those things? We don't stay still long enough for one of those devices. It usually required dad to hold us while mom brushes us. I hope you got a good treat after all that.

Oh, my mom uses the exact same three torture devices! She also uses a grooming spray. I'm not a woolly, but my fur is on the long side, so even though I don't like being sprayed, the spray helps to detangle my coat so that the torture devices pull my fur less.
But the whole thing stinks!
We are blowing our coats too! Our mom is cleaning the floor almost constantly and brushing us WAY too much! We don't have a furminator, yet, but I saw it written on her "list" so we are worried!

What is it with the humans? Do we chase them around with a brush?? NOOO! Yet they chase me around plucking and combing. I don't get it.

hi Royal, that coat blosing stuff sounds really aggravating. we sure are glad we don't have to do that. baths and haircuts are bad enough for a self respecting dog.
we hope to see you at Marymoor one of these weekends, but probably not for awhile after Benson has his surgery.
we may, however, see you at your dad's vet place due to Brody's itch itch itch itch itch ... well you get the idea.
woofesr.
coat BLOWING. darn this typer anyway.
woof.
Oh Royal, all that brushing must be horrible. Mom said she thinks I'm about to start blowing my coat because I've been losing tufts of hair off my rear end. Mom brushed me on Friday and I HATE it so much! Maybe we should run away until we are done blowing.
Kat
Like Kat, I'm sheddding from my butt too! It seems to be the first place to start blowing. Do we all blow around the same time or is it different for huskies that live in warmer climates?
We hope you got tons of good treats for all of that brushing.
It is so good to read about you all. We were getting worried that you had stopped dog blogging. Glad to see you're back and rearing to go!
Hi-Woo Royal,
Haven't talked to you in awhile. We can sympathize wif you. We aren't blowing our coats yet. Hate the furminator, too. Also, if mommy sees a hunk of fur hanging off of us she grabs it. We don't do it to her hair, sos why does she do it to us. She is trying to find a furminator for the horsies. They are suppose to have one soon out fur them.
Til next time,
