a summary:
her dog got its tongue stuck in a stuffable kong-LIKE toy while she was away from home. the circulation got cut off for too long, the tongue swelled, and the toy had to be removed at the vet. within days the tongue became so necrotic she had to be euthanized.
"What I didn't think about is that the toy has ONE hole. Unlike Kongs, which have two holes. This two hole construction is for a very good reason. A few years ago, Four Paws company recalled its Pimple Ball toy due to tongue injuries to dogs. If you do a quick Internet search, you will find many articles about the problem with ONE hole toys, which can create a suction effect, and the dog's tongue will become lodged in the toy. The tongue swells, making it harder for the dog to remove the toy."
