Royal here with an educational post! I was inspired after hearing the sad news about Gidget. It made me so sad and also scared. See, this week when dad was walking me & Brock, I pulled out of his hands- twice. The first time I just ran to the neighbor's yard but did not have my collar or harness on, just a slip lead that I got out of. Mom caught me and had to carry me home. The 2nd time I pulled the leash right out of his hand and ran down the street and into a busy road. Some nice men saw me and grabbed my leash right away and called mom from the number on my tag.
I had no idea how dangerous is it out there. Mom said if she were there she could call me to come (treats!!!), but since dad never practices it with me I never come to him when called (well yeah, why would I???). So mom & I are going to share some tips on teaching your doggies to come when called no matter what. She says if you practice practice practice, it will literally become an unconcious reflex for your dogs to come when you call them (wowee!) She is definitely going to work on this with me some more, and have dad do it too!!
I present you with four FANTASTIC resources. They each offer wonderful techniques & advice, I recommend reading all of them & combining the techniques!
